How to use “Change Pitch”
- Add the song or voice you want to transpose.
- Keep “Independent” mode and move the semitone control (−12 to +12).
- Click “Listen 10 s” and check that the new key is the one you are after.
- Choose MP3 or WAV, click “Change speed and pitch” and download the transposed audio.
How the pitch changes without changing the speed
Each semitone multiplies the frequency by 2^(1/12) ≈ 1.059; 12 semitones are an octave. To raise the pitch without speeding up, the audio is first stretched with time-stretching (a phase vocoder) and then resampled, so the final duration stays the same as the original. With “Preserve formants” the voice keeps its timbre when the pitch changes. With large shifts (more than 5–7 semitones) the voice loses naturalness, as with any pitch shifter.
Are my files uploaded?
No. ShiftAny Audio processes your audio directly on your device: this tool runs in your browser and never sends your files to any server.
Limits and metadata
ShiftAny sets no duration or size limits: the real ceiling is your device’s memory, because the audio is decompressed to be processed and an hour of stereo takes more than 1 GB. With very long files, we warn you before loading them. The new file contains only the audio: tags (title, artist, cover art) are not copied.
Frequently asked questions
Can I change a song’s key to sing or play along?
Yes. Shift it by the semitones you need (for example −2 to go down a whole tone) and the song keeps the same tempo.
How many semitones can I shift?
From −12 to +12, that is, one octave in each direction.
Can I change pitch and speed at the same time?
Yes: in “Independent” mode both controls combine. In “Classic” mode the pitch follows the speed, as on a turntable.
How is this different from “Change Audio Speed”?
They share an engine, but here the goal is the key: the duration does not change. “Change Audio Speed” starts from the tempo and leaves the pitch as it is, or drags it along in classic mode.
