- Your files travel straight between Google and your browser. They never touch a server of ours, because we don’t have any.
- Processing runs on your device, exactly as it does with a file from your computer.
- The app can only access the files you pick and the ones it saves to your Drive. Never the rest.
- Access expires after one hour and is never stored. This browser only remembers your name and email so you can reconnect in one click; you can disconnect at any time.

How to use “Compress Audio”
- Add the audio files that are too large.
- Choose the quality (kbps): the lower, the smaller.
- Click “Compress audio” and compare the size before and after.
- Download the slimmed-down files.
How much smaller to expect
The audio is encoded again as MP3 at the bitrate you choose. The size depends only on the kbps and the duration: 128 kbps ≈ 1 MB per minute; 64 kbps ≈ 0.5 MB. If the result would be larger than the original (for example, going up from 128 to 192 kbps), we tell you and you keep the original file. Re-compressing an MP3 loses some quality on every pass.
Are my files uploaded?
No. ShiftAny Audio processes your audio directly on your device: this tool runs in your browser and never sends your files to any server.
Limits and metadata
ShiftAny sets no duration or size limits: the real ceiling is your device’s memory, because the audio is decompressed to be processed and an hour of stereo takes more than 1 GB. With very long files, we warn you before loading them. The new file contains only the audio: tags (title, artist, cover art) are not copied.
Frequently asked questions
Which bitrate should I choose?
128 kbps for music, 96 for podcasts and 64 for speech. Below that, the sound gets noticeably poorer.
What if my file is already small?
If the result is not smaller, the original file is kept and you are told.
Does converting to mono save space?
In MP3 the size is set by the bitrate, not the channels; but in mono you can lower it (e.g. to 64 kbps) and keep speech clear.
How is this different from “WAV to MP3”?
“WAV to MP3” converts an uncompressed WAV, and that is where the big savings are. This tool takes any format and is mainly for existing MP3s you want to make smaller.
