- Your files travel straight between Google and your browser. They never touch a server of ours, because we don’t have any.
- Processing runs on your device, exactly as it does with a file from your computer.
- The app can only access the files you pick and the ones it saves to your Drive. Never the rest.
- Access expires after one hour and is never stored. This browser only remembers your name and email so you can reconnect in one click; you can disconnect at any time.

How to use “Increase Volume”
- Add the audio files that are too quiet or too loud.
- Move the volume control: you will see the change in dB and as a percentage, and a warning if any file is going to clip.
- Click “Listen 10 s” to check the new volume.
- Choose MP3 or WAV, click “Change volume” and download the result.
Gain, dB and clipping
Every sample is multiplied by the same factor on every channel, so the stereo balance does not change. +6 dB doubles the amplitude (200%) and −6 dB halves it (50%). Digital audio cannot go above 0 dBFS: if the boosted peak exceeds that limit, the excess is cut off and sounds distorted. We warn you before processing and suggest the highest boost that does not clip; if that is exactly what you want, “Normalize Audio” does it in one click.
Are my files uploaded?
No. ShiftAny Audio processes your audio directly on your device: this tool runs in your browser and never sends your files to any server.
Limits and metadata
ShiftAny sets no duration or size limits: the real ceiling is your device’s memory, because the audio is decompressed to be processed and an hour of stereo takes more than 1 GB. With very long files, we warn you before loading them. The new file contains only the audio: tags (title, artist, cover art) are not copied.
Frequently asked questions
How much can I raise the volume without distortion?
It depends on each file’s peak. The tool measures it on loading and tells you how many dB you can add without clipping; the “Max without clipping” button sets it for you.
What is the difference between dB and percentage?
They are two ways of expressing the same thing: the percentage is the factor the amplitude is multiplied by (200% = double) and dB is the logarithmic scale we hear with (+6 dB ≈ double the amplitude).
Does background noise get louder too?
Yes. Raising the volume amplifies everything equally, including the recording’s noise or hiss.
When is “Normalize Audio” the better choice?
When you want the loudest possible level without clipping, or to even out several files: “Normalize Audio” works out the gain for each one. Increase Volume applies the exact gain you choose to all of them.
