  • Your files travel straight between Google and your browser. They never touch a server of ours, because we don’t have any.
  • Processing runs on your device, exactly as it does with a file from your computer.
  • The app can only access the files you pick and the ones it saves to your Drive. Never the rest.

With the quality of SH Core, our own engine: what you hear is exactly what you download.

How to use “Sample Rate Converter”

  1. Add one or more audio files: you will see the current sample rate of each one.
  2. Choose the output rate (44.1 kHz for music and streaming, 48 kHz for video).
  3. Choose WAV and its bit depth (16 bits with dither, 24 or 32 bits float), or MP3.
  4. Click “Change sample rate” and download the result.

Resampling and bit depth with no audible loss

The resampler is SH Core’s, ShiftAny’s own engine: a Kaiser-windowed sinc filter of mastering quality, with a flat passband and about 120 dB of alias rejection, measured against SoX VHQ at 225 points. Common conversions (44.1 ↔ 48 kHz) use the exact ratio. When reducing to 16 bits, TPDF dither is applied, with optional psychoacoustic noise shaping, so that fades and tails do not turn into steps. Raising the rate or the bit depth adds no quality that was not in the original: it is for meeting the format you are asked for.

Are my files uploaded?

No. ShiftAny Audio processes your audio directly on your device: this tool runs in your browser and never sends your files to any server.

Limits and metadata

ShiftAny sets no duration or size limits: the real ceiling is your device’s memory, because the audio is decompressed to be processed and an hour of stereo takes more than 1 GB. With very long files, we warn you before loading them. The new file contains only the audio: tags (title, artist, cover art) are not copied.

Frequently asked questions

44.1 or 48 kHz?

44.1 kHz is the music standard (CD, Spotify and most distributors). 48 kHz is the standard for video, film and TV. Use whichever your audio’s destination asks for.

Is quality lost going from 48 to 44.1 kHz?

Only content between 20 and 24 kHz is lost, which the ear cannot hear. The resampler keeps the whole audible band flat and removes aliases, so the change is inaudible.

What is dither and when do I need it?

Going to 16 bits rounds every sample; without dither, fades and reverb tails sound grainy. Dither replaces that rounding with a very low, even noise. It is only applied when saving at 16 bits.

Can I save an MP3 at 96 kHz?

No: the MP3 standard goes up to 48 kHz. For higher rates, choose WAV.
