- Your files travel straight between Google and your browser. They never touch a server of ours, because we don’t have any.
- Processing runs on your device, exactly as it does with a file from your computer.
- The app can only access the files you pick and the ones it saves to your Drive. Never the rest.

How to use “WAV to FLAC”
- Add the WAV files you want to turn into FLAC: you can drop several at once.
- Look at the estimated savings in the settings: they depend on how much music, speech or silence it holds.
- Click “Convert to FLAC” and wait while each WAV is processed.
- Download each FLAC on its own, or all your converted WAV files in a ZIP.
From WAV to FLAC: what to expect
FLAC compresses audio without loss: decompressing it gives back exactly the same samples as the WAV. A music FLAC usually takes 50 to 70% of the WAV (speech and silence compress more; noise, hardly at all). 16- and 24-bit WAVs keep the same bit depth; 32-bit floating-point WAVs are saved at 24 bits, because FLAC only supports integers. The encoder is our own and runs in your browser: it compresses a little less than the command-line “flac” tool (2–3% larger files), but the file is standard FLAC.
Are my files uploaded?
No. ShiftAny Audio processes your audio directly on your device: this tool runs in your browser and never sends your files to any server.
Limits and metadata
ShiftAny sets no duration or size limits: the real ceiling is your device’s memory, because the audio is decompressed to be processed and an hour of stereo takes more than 1 GB. With very long files, we warn you before loading them. The new file contains only the audio: tags (title, artist, cover art) are not copied.
Frequently asked questions
Is quality lost from WAV to FLAC?
No. FLAC is lossless: 16- and 24-bit WAVs play back identically, sample for sample. You can go back to WAV at any time with “FLAC to WAV”.
How much space do I save?
For music, usually 30 to 50%. The tool shows an estimate before converting; the real size depends on the content.
Where can I play a FLAC?
In almost every current player (VLC, foobar2000, Windows, macOS, Android, iOS) and in modern browsers.
